Veterinarians implant computer chips into pets and farm animals to identify and track
them if they get lost. Some people suggest doing so for children. Discuss the privacy implications of such proposals. What are the risks? Do the benefits outweigh the risks? Do parents have the right to have the chips implanted in their young children? How about in their teenage children? If the government proposed legally requiring ID chips in children under the age of 5, would you support it? Why or why not?

Children's safety is always one of the most important thing to our society, That's why I can truly understand why people think about the implant computer chips of children. But in my opinion, I really don't think this is a good idea.

It is necessary for keeping children's safe to use some special ways, but the way to use implant computer chips must has risks. Children is different from adults and farm animals, they are weaker than adults and farm animals, they will have some healthy issue. And secondly, we cannot be sure that the computer system is always work perfectly, it might makes parents have unnecessary worries.

All the words I said before are just target on small kids, and for teenagers, the situation is more complex. Not like children, teenagers think about everything much more than kids, they don't want to be track when do anything they want. And human rights are important for everyone, include children, we should ask for children's own opinion about whether they want to be tracked.

  1. Hello, Cathy. I agree with your opinion. There are a lot of risks to implant ID chips on children’s body regardless of age. I completely support your thought that implantable microchips add more worry that parents won’t have to. Even if they insert ID chips in their kids’ body, they are not free from the concern of losing children. In case of teenagers, it can disturb to cultivate good relations between parents and children. In addition, the agreement is important if their kids can express their opinion because they have a personal liberty. Although they are not adult, they can decide something that is related to their body or freedom.
Implantable ID chips seem like the best way for protecting and controlling the kids but as we know, it also has many weaknesses. If so, do you know any other ways to replace this ID chips such as GPS bracelet? What could be the best method to protect the kids?

  2. I agree with your opinion. I also think that implanting micro chips to kid is a bad idea. It somehow protect safety of children, but we should focus on its disadvantage. What about health problem? Everyone should have their own right. We can have more safety way to solve this problem. We have better way to educate our chidlren. We should stand in children's point of view to consider this question.
